The CLEAR
Protocol

A systematic, root-cause approach to chronic illness, built on the one question most practitioners never ask: what's blocking your body from recovering?

The CLEAR Protocol
Why you're still sick

Most practitioners are asking the wrong question.

By the time someone walks into our clinic, they've usually seen 10 or 20 doctors before us. They've been tested for Lyme, screened for mold, checked for parasites. They've run labs, taken supplements, followed protocols. They've spent thousands, often tens of thousands, trying to get well.

And they're still sick.

That's because nearly every practitioner is asking the same question: what's making them sick? They look for a pathogen, a toxin, a deficiency. They often find something real. But the treatments still don't work the way they should.

"What if the better question is: what's blocking them from getting well?"

Your body is designed to recover. It wants to recover. But when something is standing in the way, not just a pathogen or a toxin, but a whole layered set of exposures, depletions, and nervous-system patterns, recovery can't happen. No matter how perfect the supplement stack. No matter how aggressive the protocol.

The CLEAR Protocol is how we find what's in the way, and remove it in the right order.

Two Frames That Change Everything

Your body has a budget.
And a backpack.

Before we can talk about what to fix, you need to see what's actually happening underneath the symptoms.

The Energy Bank Account

Every day, you wake up with a finite amount of energy. Your body spends roughly 50% just to stay alive, breathing, digesting, beating your heart, filtering toxins. The rest goes to work, parenting, relationships, stress, and every protocol, supplement, and IV you're doing to get well.

When you're chronically ill, you're already overdrawn. Piling on 40 supplements and five protocols simultaneously isn't a root-cause approach. It's asking a homeowner with no money to renovate their entire house at once.

The 1,000-Pound Backpack

Chronic illness is rarely one thing. It's a backpack slowly filled over years, a book of mold, a book of Lyme, a book of heavy metals, a book of unresolved trauma, a book of endocrine disruptors, a book of not eating enough.

Your other doctors each found a book or two. They treated it in isolation. But you're still carrying 900 pounds. Recovery only happens when you start pulling books out, systematically, and in the order your body can actually handle.

Our Method

The CLEAR Protocol

Five phases. In the right order.

CLEAR isn't a rigid recipe, "take two and call me in the morning." It's a framework: a systematic approach that gets to the root cause in a prioritized way, based on what your body can actually handle.

C

Comprehensive Assessment

Map everything making you sick, not just your labs.

L

Load Reduction

Stop digging the hole deeper. Cut ongoing exposure first.

E

Environmental Optimization

Build a home and daily life that supports recovery, not blocks it.

A

Autonomic Regulation

Get your nervous system out of fight-or-flight so your protocol can work.

R

Removal of Burdens

Systematically address infections, toxins, and deficiencies, one at a time.

Most practitioners skip right to step R.That's why treatment fails to deliver lasting results.
Inside the Protocol

What each phase actually looks like.

C

Comprehensive Assessment

First, we see the whole picture, all of it.

Your first appointment takes an hour, and we cover everything most doctors never ask about. Not because it's trendy, but because the thing that's actually keeping you stuck may not be on anyone's radar yet, the water nobody tested, the mold in your car nobody mentioned, the 800 calories a day nobody asked about.

  • Infections and toxins — Lyme, mold, parasites, heavy metals, radioactive elements, chronic viruses
  • Deficiencies and dysfunctions — thyroid, adrenal, nutrient, hormonal, sleep
  • Environment — water, air, home, workplace, personal-care products, dental work, exposure history
  • Diet — not just what you eat, but how much (most patients are unknowingly under-fueling)
  • Nervous system — trauma history, personality patterns, autonomic state
  • Timeline — when you first got sick, what's worked, what hasn't, and why

We don't play favorites. We're not looking for our favorite problem. We're looking for your actual problems. From that complete picture, we build a roadmap instead of guessing.

L

Load Reduction

If you want out of the hole, first, stop digging.

Before we add a single protocol, we stop the damage. Most people want to jump straight to killing infections and detoxing mold. But if you're still drinking contaminated water, breathing mold in your bedroom, and absorbing endocrine disruptors through your skin eight hours a day, those protocols won't hold.

  • A three-day food diary — are you actually eating enough to fuel recovery?
  • A real water test — not just bacteria, but radon, lead, arsenic, heavy metals
  • Air quality — mold, HVAC, HEPA filtration
  • A product swap — shampoo, deodorant, lotion, personal care
  • A dental conversation — amalgams, root canals, metal implants

This is the unsexy work nobody wants to do. It's foundational. And it's the difference between a protocol that works and one that quietly gets absorbed by ongoing poisoning.

E

Environmental Optimization

You can't supplement your way out of a toxic environment.

Load Reduction stops the bleed; Environmental Optimization builds a daily life that actively supports recovery. The goal isn't perfection. It's small changes that compound. Every exposure you eliminate frees up energy your body can finally redirect toward repair.

Clean water. Clean air. Cleaner products. Enough food. Adequate sleep. A home that supports you instead of fighting you. When the environment finally supports your health, interventions stop being wasted effort. They start doing what they're supposed to do.

A

Autonomic Regulation

Regulate before you address the rest.

Most chronically ill patients are stuck in perpetual fight-or-flight. And when your nervous system thinks you're being chased by a bear, it doesn't care how good your supplements are. It won't put resources toward recovery until it feels safe. We have to teach your body it's safe to rest before anything else can work.

  • Limbic-system retraining — 20–30 minutes daily of somatic and neuroplasticity work (we often recommend Primal Trust, DNRS, or the Gupta Program)
  • Vagal nerve stimulation — cold exposure, humming, gargling, deep pressure — simple, free, and surprisingly effective
  • Breathwork that down-regulates — box breathing, 4–7–8, coherent breathing (not every breathwork fad is right for your physiology)
  • For the most dysregulated patients: stellate ganglion blocks — a medical intervention that can reboot the sympathetic nervous system when daily practices alone aren't enough
R

Removal of Burdens

Now, and only now, we start pulling books out of the backpack.

By this point your environment is fixed, your body has fuel, and your nervous system is regulating. Now, and only now, can we systematically address the infections, toxins, and deficiencies that have been weighing on you. One at a time. In the order that makes sense for your body and your capacity.

  • Infections — Lyme, co-infections, parasites, chronic viruses
  • Toxins — heavy metals, mycotoxins, environmental burdens
  • Immune dysregulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, hormonal imbalances

We prioritize based on what's causing the most active harm right now, what's suppressing your immune system most, what your body has capacity to handle, and what will give you the fastest relief. Not everything at once. Not guessing. Not generic.

The Hierarchy

Starters, Burdens, Effects.

To know what to address first, we use a simple framework. Most practitioners focus only on the middle column. And most patients come to us focused entirely on the right column.

Starters

What made your body weak

  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Thyroid dysfunction
  • Adrenal burnout
  • Not eating enough
  • Poor sleep

Burdens

What's actively making you sick

  • Lyme & co-infections
  • Mold toxicity
  • Parasites
  • Heavy metals
  • Chronic viral infections
  • Unresolved trauma

Effects

What shows up in your life

  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • POTS
  • Mast cell activation
  • Hashimoto's
"You can't just chase the Effects. They don't resolve until you address the Burdens. And the Burdens don't resolve unless you fix the Starters first."

The first four phases of CLEAR, C, L, E, and A, are how we build your Starters. Without that foundation, your protocol has nothing to work with. A depleted body can't fight Lyme. A dysregulated nervous system can't restore a gut. This is why other protocols have failed you: not because they were wrong, but because they were incomplete, and they were delivered in the wrong order.

Why This Is Different

A new (and sane) approach to
chronic disease.

The Conventional Path

Find one thing (Lyme, mold, hormones). Treat it in isolation. Add another supplement when symptoms persist. Suppress what flares. Chase symptoms. Repeat for years.

Result: Maybe 20–30% better. Still carrying 900 pounds.

The CLEAR Protocol

Map the whole system. Stop ongoing exposures. Build the foundation. Regulate the nervous system. Only then remove burdens, one at a time, in the order your body can actually handle.

Result: Progress that compounds, not another failed protocol.

A Patient's Story

Eve came to us bedbound.
Two years later, she went skiing.

Eve flew in from the UK barely able to manage the basics of her own life. Severe chronic fatigue. Brain fog so bad she couldn't cook or look after herself. Every test showed another burden layered on the last, chemical toxicity, heavy metals, mold, candida. Mild mold exposure could trigger full-body paralysis and loss of speech.

Progress was slow. For the first year, she improved maybe 5% per protocol. No dramatic breakthroughs. Just steady, grinding increments that often didn't feel like progress at all.

Then we started working on her nervous system.

"When you've been sick for so long, you forget what living feels like. But when you can do the things you love again, it reminds you why you kept going."

Two years after her first appointment, she spent two months in Spain. Drove for the first time in five years. Went horseback riding. Took three-hour walks. She even went skiing. Eve is still recovering. She's not 100% better. But she has her life back.

Not because we gave her a magic fix. Because we systematically removed what was blocking her body from recovering.

How We Work Together

A systematic, long-term partnership, not a quick fix.

The CLEAR Protocol isn't about being perfect. It's about consistent forward progress, showing up even when the changes feel invisible, because behind the scenes your backpack is getting lighter.

01

Map Your Complete Picture

A comprehensive first visit where we look at everything, labs, environment, nervous system, history, diet. We don't miss what other practitioners skipped.

02

Build a Custom Roadmap

Every plan is built for your body. Your unique set of sensitivities, capacity, and priorities. There is no generic protocol, and that's the point.

03

Work the Plan, Together

We move through CLEAR at your body's pace. Not everything at once. Right things in the right order. Adjusting as you recover.

"The goal isn't just getting better. It's when health becomes boring again — when recovery stops being your full-time job and starts being background noise."
